Two suspects arrested after violent hijacking

He gave a lift to men who turned out to be hijackers.

Two suspects are expected to appear in court after they were arrested for hijacking a vehicle between Carletonville and Welverdiend.

A 34-year-old resident of the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex was enjoying a relaxing time with friends on the night of December 22.

When he left at approximately 01:00 the next morning, he gave a ride to three men. “While driving over the bridge close to the 70s of Khutsong Ext 5, his passengers pulled out knives and stabbed him in the neck.

They then threw him from his car and drove off with it,” said police in a statement.

The victim was treated for minor injuries at the Carletonville Hospital. Motorists are urged not to give rides to hitchhikers or people they do not know.
