Carletonville police arrest hijacker in act, rescue kidnapped victim in dramatic bust
The Corolla drove down Annan Road without number plates.

- The police in Carletonville had success when they arrested a hijacker in the act in Carletonville on March 19.
Uniformed members of the Carletonville police were busy with a routine patrol on Annan Road at 19:00 when they saw a silver Toyota Corolla without number plates.
The police members called for backup and managed to pull the vehicle off the road. The passenger immediately jumped out and ran away.
Authorities at the scene arrested the driver and saw a third person with a balaclava in the back seat.
This man, a 39-year-old resident of East Driefontein, immediately told them that the other men had hijacked and kidnapped him in Pelican Drive in East Driefontein.
The victim was not injured. The driver was charged with hijacking and kidnapping.
Police are still looking for his accomplice who ran away.
