Wedela police launch intensive search for suspect in teen murder

Please contact the police if you see the suspect or knows where he might be.

In a developing case that has alarmed the community, Wedela police have stepped up their efforts to find the suspect linked to the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl. The investigation, which has attracted widespread public, focuses on the girl’s boyfriend, Mabutho Zulu, as the primary person of interest.

On Tuesday afternoon, the frantic search began when the teenager’s mother reported her missing. A large search was quickly initiated. The grim breakthrough came yesterday near the N12 highway, where the teenager’s body was discovered in the veld, heightening concerns and prompting an urgent manhunt.

The Wedela SAPS is now actively seeking any information that could lead to the location of Mabutho Zulu, who is believed to be in his late 20s. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from confronting him directly. Instead, witnesses or community members with relevant information are strongly encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Sgt Noni Sontyali, at 078 079 7391 or 082 416 3201, or the Wedela SAPS standby number at 071 675 7178.

The police commend the community’s assistance during the search and emphasize the need for anyone with additional tips to come forward to ensure justice for the slain teenager. As the investigation continues, local residents are reminded that their vigilance could be key in ending this distressing chapter.

Anyone who sees the suspect Mabutho Zulu must immediately phone the police.
