Terrifying house robbery and kidnapping shocks

Police in Carletonville are investigating.

The Khutsong Extension 5 community has been left reeling after a violent home invasion and kidnapping took place in the early hours of Monday, May 26.

A mother and her 19-year-old daughter, both residents of a home in the 80s section of Khutsong Ext 5, were asleep when their night turned into a nightmare. At around 00:30, they were woken by loud noises at the back door of their house.

According to reports, a group of five masked robbers, four of whom were armed with guns and one with a crowbar, broke down the door and stormed into the house. The attackers, who spoke Sesotho, demanded money and began ransacking the home in search of more valuables.

When they failed to find enough cash, the robbers forcibly abducted the teenage daughter and took her with them. Later, they contacted the family and demanded a ransom. As of publication time, the young woman has not yet been returned, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

The Carletonville SAPS have opened cases of house robbery and kidnapping, and an active investigation is underway. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any information that could assist in the safe return of the kidnapped victim.
