Young Carletonville man dies after brutal assault

The incident occurred on May 25, and police are now appealing for information as they investigate this tragic Carletonville murder case.

A young man from Carletonville has died in hospital following a violent assault, sparking a murder investigation.

The 25-year-old victim, whose identity has not yet been made public, was reportedly attacked on Saturday, 25 May. According to police, the man arrived at his family’s home in Oranje Street in a severely injured state at around 10:25 that morning. His family immediately rushed him to Carletonville Hospital for medical treatment.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to Leratong Hospital on 31 May. Sadly, despite doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

The tragic news was confirmed on 5 June, when the man’s distraught mother contacted the police after receiving a call from Leratong Hospital notifying her of her son’s passing.

Police have since opened a murder case and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the assault are ongoing.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
