Freezing weather alert: Carletonville braces for icy temperatures from Friday

Daytime highs will drop to just 11°C, with minimums plunging to 0°C through the weekend.

Carletonville – Residents in Carletonville and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for a significant drop in temperatures later this week, as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a cold weather warning.

According to SAWS, Thursday, 26 June will remain relatively mild with a high of 17°C and a low of 6°C. However, from Friday, 27 June, temperatures will plummet sharply, with a maximum of just 11°C and a freezing minimum of 0°C expected.

The cold front will continue through the weekend:

  • Saturday, 28 June: Max 14°C | Min 0°C

  • Sunday, 29 June: Max 16°C | Min 0°C

The weather service urges residents to dress warmly, take extra precautions for the elderly, children, and pets, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the cold.
