St Augustine Catholic Church youth brings hope to Wedela on Mandela Day

The church also hopes to expand their impact in the future.

Members of the St Augustine Catholic Church in Kokosi extended a hand of compassion to the community of Wedela this Mandela Day, 18 July.

The church’s Youth Ministry visited the Vukani Home-based Care Centre in Wedela, where they spent their 67 minutes of service in the spirit of Ubuntu. During the visit, they donated food and clothing to support vulnerable residents in the area.

“We donated food and clothes to the community. The event was a success, and we intend to do more for this community to bring change to other people’s lives,” said Anastasia Lefalatsa, an active church member.

She added that the church hopes to secure sponsorships from local stakeholders, including the municipality and nearby businesses, to make an even bigger impact in the future.

The heartfelt initiative reflects the true meaning of Mandela Day — serving others and uplifting communities in need.
