Sibanye-Stillwater has officially appointed Richard Cox as Chief Regional Officer (CRO) of the Southern African region, effective July 1.

Cox has served as acting CRO: SA region since May 2025, following his tenure as Executive Vice-President (EVP): Processing for the region. His appointment comes after a thorough internal and external recruitment process.

Richard joined Sibanye-Stillwater in November 2020 as Senior Vice-President (SVP): Strategy Advisor. He was promoted to EVP: SA region gold operations in February 2021 and later to EVP: Processing in April 2024. His extensive mining experience includes key roles at Anglo American Platinum (Valterra), Anglo American North Americas, and AngloGold Ashanti, covering operations in both South Africa and Mali.

He holds a BSc in Mining from the University of the Witwatersrand, an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and completed the prestigious Stanford Executive Programme at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
