Carletonville, South Africa – A young local angler is making serious waves in the national fishing scene. Zaiden Howie, a promising talent from the Dorado Ski Boat Club, will compete at the prestigious SADSAA All Stars Deep Sea Angling Event this weekend at Meerensee Boat Club in Richards Bay.

Club spokesperson Blyde Pretorius confirmed that Zaiden will represent Dorado at the elite national event, which draws the country’s top deep sea anglers.

Zaiden is no stranger to national-level competition. He recently showcased his talent at the South African Fresh Water Bank Angling Federation Accuracy & Distance Casting Nationals, hosted at Die Anker Hoërskool.

Representing the Central North West team, Zaiden placed an impressive 14th individually and played a key role in helping his team clinch second place overall.

“Accuracy casting is no joke,” said Pretorius. “It demands eagle-eyed concentration, finely tuned technique, and the ability to hit targets that sometimes feel more elusive than a fish on a vegan diet.”

Pretorius explained that success in accuracy casting requires precise control of strength, judgment of distance, and unwavering mental focus—skills that Zaiden continues to sharpen with each competition.

Next stop: Angling for the disabled tournament

Zaiden’s next appearance will be in the Central North West Freshwater Bank Angling for the Disabled tournament, scheduled for September at Bamboesspruit near Bloemhof in the Free State. This inclusive competition highlights the power of sport to unite and uplift all participants.
