Hijackers targeted a motorist at a four-way stop in Carletonville on August 28.

The 48-year-old driver of a white Toyota Quantum minibus was approaching the intersection of Onyx Drive and Coronation Street at around 06:50 when a white vehicle suddenly cut him off.

Two armed men, speaking isiZulu, jumped out and pointed firearms at him. The suspects forced the victim to lie down inside the minibus before later abandoning him near unidentified mine shafts.

The shaken motorist managed to find his way to the Carletonville Police Station, where he reported the crime. Police confirmed that a case of hijacking and kidnapping is under investigation.
