Phororong Primary athlete shines in cross-country, qualifies for provincial championship

The young star finished fourth and qualifying for the Provincial Cross Country Championship.

A cross-country athlete from Phororong Primary School in Khutsong is putting the area on the map.

According to teacher Jabu Yalo, Bokamoso Shai performed exceptionally at the Merafong Cluster Cross Country Championship, held on 1, 8, and 15 August. His success qualified him for the D2 Championship, which took place at Laerskool Bekker in Magaliesburg on August 23.

Bokamoso continued to impress, securing fourth place at the D2 Championship and earning a spot at the Provincial Cross Country Championship at Curro Midrand Sagewood on 30 August.

While his achievements bring pride to Phororong Primary and the Merafong community, talented athletes like Bokamoso rely on local support to reach their full potential.

“Our school has very talented learners but limited sporting equipment, resources, and kits. If anyone can help the school with anything, even old or unused running shoes, we would greatly appreciate it,” said Yalo. People interested in assisting can contact him on 073 071 0493.
