Khutsong supermarket robber caught by community after armed heist

Community members helped track and capture the suspect.

A business robber got more than he bargained for this week.

According to a source, the owner (42) of Thabiso Supermarket in the 70s of Khutsong Extension 5 was busy with routine tasks inside his shop on October 1. At approximately 11:00, an unknown man walked in and pulled out a firearm.

He demanded money, and when the owner of the business refused to hand it to him, he fired two shots into the air.

He then grabbed the machine from which airtime is printed and ran away.

The shop owner called for help, and members of the community immediately rushed to help him.

Some community members ran after the suspect while others called the police.

The community and police later arrested the suspect (33) with the airtime machine.

They also found a blank pistol in his possession.

He was charged with business robbery and has already appeared in court.
