Truck driver kidnapped in Carletonville, ransom demanded – Truck still missing
The truck was last seen in Ada Street, but remains missing despite the driver's safe release.
A truck driver was hijacked and kidnapped in the Carletonville area on October 17.
The owner of the truck received a call from an unknown number at approximately 11:45, in-forming him that the vehicle had been hijacked. The caller demanded a ransom for the safe re-lease of both the 65-year-old driver and the truck.
The driver had last been seen at Marshall Hardware around 8:00 and was expected to arrive at Cluster Sand by 09:00.
Later that day, another truck driver spotted the missing vehicle parked on Ada Street, opposite the Merafong City Local Municipality’s traffic department.
While the kidnapped driver was released later that same afternoon, the truck remains missing.
