A driver was murdered near East Driefontein this week.

This crime took place on October 16.

According to a source, the victim (28) and his passenger were driving in his white BMW from Vuka Search via the East Driefontein road toward the P111 road at approximately 18:20. As they drove up to the stop at the T-junction of the East Driefontein road and the P111 road they saw two men on the side of the road.

Suddenly one of these men pulled out a firearm and shot at the BMW. The driver was shot in the left side of his chest.

He turned right onto the P111 but overturned the car approximately 400 metres from the crossing. T

he driver died at the scene.

Police later determined that the victim had previously been arrested for having an illegal firearm and explosives, but disappeared after he was supposed to go to court.
