Residents of a home in the northern section of Blybank had a harrowing experience last week.

According to a source, the crime took place on October 15. A resident (45) of Plover Street and his friend were sitting outside on the stoep at 12:00 when two Sesotho-speaking men walked up to them.

At first, the strangers asked whether there was a room to let in the house.

The two residents told them there were no rooms to let at the house, but directed them to houses where they could find boarding.

One of the strangers suddenly pulled out a firearm and forced the two men into a bedroom.

They also grabbed the resident’s wife in the kitchen and forced her into the bedroom as well. A third thug also entered and grabbed the resident’s son in his bedroom. They tied up all the victims with shoelaces and asked the resident where his money was. When he replied that he did not have any, they started searching the house.

The thugs took the man’s cellphone and wallet with bank cards.

They also grabbed the keys to his friend’s red VW Golf 6 with Lesotho number plates, which was parked outside the yard, and sped off with it.
The resident later found that they had drawn money from his account.
