Carletonville employee hijacked and kidnapped on R501
He was later released in Slovoville, Soweto, but the stolen Toyota Quantum and its R80 000 fabric cargo remain missing.
An employee of a local business was hijacked and kidnapped on October 28 while driving from Carletonville to Pretoria.
The 55-year-old Edura employee was driving a company-owned Toyota Quantum panel van on the R501 at 09:30. As he neared the R559 turn-off toward Randfontein, he saw a slow-moving vehicle ahead of him.
The driver didn’t suspect any problems at first, but moments later, another vehicle collided with the back of the Quantum.
When the driver got out to check the damage, two armed men jumped from the vehicle in front.
They blindfolded him and forced him into one of their two cars.
The victim was later dropped off in Slovoville, Soweto.
At the time of publication, both the Toyota Quantum and the R80 000 worth of fabric it was transporting remained missing.
