Various voting stations around Merafong

Many wards have more than one voting station.

With the general elections of 29 May only three weeks away, the IEC is doing a lot to ensure that everything is free and fair. Ensuring enough voting stations to make the election accessible to everyone is one of the responsibilities the IEC already has in place.

Ward 1 has five voting stations – at Relebogile Secondary School, Rooipoort Farm School, Khutsong Ext. 5 library and on a plot at Holfontein. Ward 2 has two voting stations – at the Khutsong South Primary School and a tent at the Khutsong South Extension 4 sports ground. Ward 3’s voting stations are at the Trinity Preschool, tents at Rivonia and T-section and a tent at Khutsong South Extension 6, while Ward 4’s voting stations are situated at a tent at the Joe Slovo informal settlement, the Christian Assembly Church and a tent at the Khutsong Extension 3 clinic.

Ward 5’s voting stations are at the West Drie Church, the Deelkraal Village Recreation Club, Blyvoor Laerskool and the Doornfontein Pit Stop Golf Club. Ward 6 has voting stations at the Tswasongo High School and a tent at the ABC Church while Ward 7 has only one voting station, at Mbulelo Primary School.

Ward 8 has three voting stations – one at a tent at the Sonderwater Cemetery, the second at the Cushion Church and the third at the ZCC Church, while Ward 9’s voting stations are at the Reformed Church, a tent at the Chiawelo informal settlement and at the St Saviors Anglican Church.
Ward 10’s voting stations are at the Itumeleng Educare Centre, Hlangabeza Primary School and Kamohelo Primary School.

Ward 11’s voting stations are at the Elandsrand Village community hall and Wedela Primary School, while those of Ward 12 are at De Beer Primary School in Welverdiend, and tents in Ext. 5. Ward 12 – Khutsong 5 Section 70 home-based care, Khutsong 5 Section 60, and the Elijah Barayi community hall. Ward 13’s voting stations are at a tent at the Blybank Library and the Din Glo Hall, while those for Ward 14 are at the West Wits Recreation Centre, the South Mine Hostel at Western Deep Levels, a tent at Mohale’s Hoek and the Fochville Civic Centre. Ward 15 has voting stations at the East Drie Primary School and the East Drie Village 1 shop at Moolman’s House at Village 2.

Ward 16’s voting stations are at Carletonville High School and Carleton Jones High School, while those of Ward 17 are at the Oberholzer Magistrate’s Court and Goudwes School. Ward 18’s voting stations are at the Carletonville Civic Centre and Laerskool Danie Theron, while those of Ward 19 are at Letsatsing Intermediate School, Eats Driefontein Hostel and the East Drie Skomplaas Church Hall. Ward 20’s voting stations are situated at the Wedela Technical High School and the Wedela Ext. 3 library, while those of Ward 21 are at the Labour Rate Centre, Laerskool Fochville and Greenspark Primary School.

Ward 22 has a voting station at Kaalplaats Farm, the Eigenaarsfontein Hall, a tent in Gadaffi Street in Kokosi Ext. 6, the Assemblies of God Church and a tent at Kokosi Ext. 99. Ward 23’s voting stations are at Xhobani Primary School and the Wedela Community Hall, while those of Ward 24 are at the Kokosi Community Hall and Losberg Primary School.

The Reakgona and Retlile Primary Schools host the voting stations in Ward 25, while that of Ward 26 is at Imfundo Secondary School. Ward 27’s voting stations are at Rocklands Primary School, the No. 9 hostel hall and the Savuka Hostel at Western Deep Levels. Ward 28’s voting stations are at Wonderfontein Hoërskool, Jongspan Primary School and a tent at the Oberholzer Park.
