Robbers strike guard, break open house

Luckily, the guard managed to escape and run for backup.

Armed robbers struck in one of the mining villages in our area over the past weekend.

This robbery occurred on Sunday 2 June. A security guard was busy watching over an empty house at Letsatsing Village when two men stormed up to him at about 02:00.

One of them pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the guard. The thugs then searched the guard and took his cellphone and security radio.

The guard managed to shove one of the robbers aside and ran to get back-up from his colleagues. When they returned, they found that the robbers had broken into the house and stole the stove.

The police are investigating charges of armed robbery, house breaking and theft.
