Carletonville model’s career soars after Vogue recognition

She still manages to keep her modelling and academic careers balanced.

A Carletonville High School learner’s international modeling career is going from strength to strength.

Last year, the Herald reported that 20-year-old Cynthia Machava was one of only eight models worldwide and the only South African to be part of the international fashion magazine Vogue’s Open Casting Class of 2023.

Vogue holds this global competition to find a new generation of models.

This gave her career a huge boost.

She has appeared on the front pages of various popular international publications since then.

According to Cynthia’s mother, Thandi Mabe-Machava, this gave her career an enhancement and international work has started rolling in.

Cynthia regularly travels to Paris when she is booked by clients.

“Her agencies are Women 360 Paris, Ford Models LA, Ford Models New York, and Ford Models Barcelona. She still loves modelling and will soon travel to Hungary for a photoshoot,” says her mother proudly.

Cynthia was, among other things, invited to be the South African ambassador for Charles Grieg Jewelery.

She also appeared in the company Makeup Forever’s Paris campaign.

She was also in a television advertisement for Lancome in Paris.

Despite all the work, her mother says Cynthia is balancing her modelling career and academics. She is also a proud member of the Christ Embassy church in Khutsong.
