Security guards tied up and equipment stolen at 007 reservoir project
The crime delays the fixing of this reservoir that can be of big help during water cuts.
The contractor fixing the 007 reservoir on behalf of the Merafong City Local Municipality was robbed for the second time this year.
The latest incident happened on November 20.
Two security guards were busy guarding the office at the construction site next to the reservoir at approximately 19:45. Suddenly three unknown African men walked up to them.
These thugs pulled out firearms and pointed them at the guards. They then tied the guards up and forced them to lie down.
Two of the robbers guarded them while the other one left.
Soon afterward the guards heard a truck outside. After some time, the robbers who had guarded them left. The guards untied themselves and went to seek help.
Except for robbing them of their cellphones and torches, the thugs had also stolen thousands of rand worth of scaffolding equipment.
Luckily the guards were not injured.
The same site was also robbed on August 29.
