Carletonville learner drivers help with road awareness

As far as could be determined it is the first time that such an action was held in Carletonville.

Learner drivers from the Carletonville area joined traffic officials in a special campaign on November 22.

The learners, who are part of the All-in-One Driving Academy took part in the action with traffic officers of the Merafong City Local Municipality.

The campaign was funded by the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA). The learners displayed colourful posters with information on how to stay safe on roads in the area.

Special attention was given to educating pedestrians, who were advised to always wear bright-coloured clothing so they can be seen by motorists when crossing roads. The learners were also advised by a municipal official Frand Dikomela and the Chief Whip, Thabo Mokuke.

According to Emmanuel Gumede, who helped organise the activities, they are hopeful that the action will help prevent accidents, save lives and reduce injuries.
