Empowering girls through education

The workshop addressed many important issues.

An organic sanitary pads workshop recently took place in Carletonville dedicated to informing young girls.

The workshop provided a safe and supportive environment for girls to learn about menstrual health and hygiene.

The education is essential for girls to understand their bodies and make informed decisions about their health.

It was also meant to break down stigmas and taboos surrounding menstruation, allowing girls to feel more empowered and confident.

This confidence can translate to other areas of their lives, helping them to become more assertive and self-assured.

The workshop promotes environmental awareness by introducing girls to eco-friendly and sustainable menstrual products to inspire girls to make environmentally conscious choices in their daily lives.

The initiative also enabled girls to connect with peers and mentors, building a sense of community and support. The network can be a valuable resource for girls navigating adolescence and beyond.

The workshop also aimed to improve health outcomes so that girls can reduce their risk of reproductive health problems such as infections and infertility.

The workshop also helps girls develop a more positive body image and increased self-esteem which is essential for their overall well-being and success.

The initiative was held by Vivian Mokome, the founder and CEO of Dignity Sanitary Pads.

Her career path shifted from IT executive at a major South African banking institution focusing on IT infrastructure and corporate process optimisation to selling sanitary pads.

She was supported by two vibrant teenagers from Carletonville, Amahle Scwebu and Osego Mosadi, to teach young girls about using organic sanitary pads and panty liners.
