Carletonville SAPS warn of new car theft scam

The criminals probably travel between towns.

Criminals in South Africa are constantly evolving their tactics, finding new ways to exploit vulnerabilities and target unsuspecting vehicle owners.

The police in Carletonville reported that two vehicles were stolen under suspicious circumstances last weekend.

In both cases, the men were relaxing at pubs or taverns in town and met unknown women during the night. They then took the women to their homes to have some fun.

The following day, both woke up and realised that they had been drugged. To make matters worse, the women had stolen their car keys and their vehicles.

Police suspect that these women are, most probably, part of a criminal group that moves between towns and targets men.

They urge vehicle owners to be vigilant and not to fall prey to such scamsters.
