Beware: Fake security guards targeting ATM users in Carletonville

The police urge residents to be very careful.

Carletonville SAPS are warning residents to exercise extra caution while using ATMs in and around town.

This comes after several residents have become targets. Police reports have indicated that the suspects, who loiter around the area, pretended to be “helpful” security guards, but then robbed them of their cash and valuables.

The Absa ATM in Annan Road and the Standard Bank ATM at the Shell filling station are only some of the trouble spots.

Police advise that the public needs to be more vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
