Armed robbers target Carletonville tavern, assault staff and steal cash

Such dangerous criminals are a big problem.

A well-known tavern in Emerald Street in the Carletonville CBD fell victim to armed robbers on the evening of April 29.

One of the employees(62) of Marcelo’s was busy at the back of the business at 19:10, when he suddenly heard a commotion in the front.

Upon investigation, he saw that three masked men, one of whom was armed, were threatening staff.

The robbers, who spoke Sesotho, grabbed the victim and forced him to the ground.

They assaulted him and then stole money from the cash registers.

Several bottles of expensive alcohol were also seized before the suspects fled the scene on foot.
