Armed robbery at Cool Point Tavern in Carletonville

An armed robbery took place at Cool Point Tavern, located at the busy Carletonville Taxi Rank, on the evening of Monday, May 27. Two unidentified African male suspects, one tall and the other short, entered the tavern and held up staff and customers at gunpoint.

According to eyewitness accounts, the tavern employee was busy with routine tasks when the two men stormed into the premises and demanded money. Patrons were ordered to remain silent, while the taller suspect walked toward the slot machines. The shorter suspect, armed with a firearm, forced the employee to open the cash register.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and two mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The Carletonville SAPS has launched an investigation and urges anyone with information related to the robbery to come forward. Anonymous tips can make a difference in tracking down the suspects and ensuring justice is served.
