A woman from the East Driefontein area endured a terrifying ordeal when an armed robber broke into her home on the morning of Friday, June 13.

The incident occurred around 09:30 at her residence in Skoonplaas. According to reports, the woman heard a suspicious noise outside and quickly realised someone was trying to force open her door. When the suspect failed to get in through the door, he managed to gain access by breaking open a window.

Once inside, the intruder pointed a firearm at the woman and demanded valuables. He took a speaker and a cellphone before noticing that nearby community members had started to gather outside the home. He fled the scene on foot with the stolen items.

Fortunately, the woman was not physically harmed during the incident. Police have opened a case of house robbery and are investigating.
