Man hijacked at gunpoint outside his home in Carletonville

The suspects stole his Isuzu bakkie, but it was later recovered in Sebokeng thanks to satellite tracking.

A 25-year-old resident was hijacked at gunpoint while stopping to open his gate on Agnew Road on the evening of Thursday, 19 June.

According to a reliable source, the man had just stopped his Isuzu bakkie in front of his home at around 20:30 when three armed men suddenly appeared and rushed toward him.

The suspects brandished firearms, pushed the victim away from his vehicle, and quickly sped off in the stolen bakkie.

The victim immediately went to the Carletonville Police Station to report the crime. Fortunately, while there, he received a call from the vehicle’s satellite tracking company informing him that the bakkie had already been recovered — in Sebokeng.

Police are investigating the incident, and no arrests had been confirmed at the time of publication.
