Elderly residents of the Fochville Aftree Oord’s frail care unit are facing the cold months with renewed comfort and dignity, thanks to a heartwarming donation of winter essentials from community partners.
The generous gesture was made possible through Round Table Carletonville and OFM’s national winter campaign, The BIG Cover Up 2025, which joined forces to support the 41 frail care residents living in the facility run by the SAVF.
On 28 June, the organizations handed over warm blankets, towels, and face cloths to the residents during a special event at the care home. The initiative brought smiles, warmth, and a sense of community to some of the town’s most vulnerable residents.
“On behalf of the management, staff, and elderly residents at SAVF Fochville, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to OFM’s The BIG Cover Up 2025 winter campaign and Round Table South Africa—specifically the Round Table Carletonville—for their generous and thoughtful donation,” said Lynette Eybers, manager of the Fochville Aftree Oord.
“This donation will bring comfort and dignity to the residents during the colder months. Your kindness is a testament to the power of community and the impact of collective care. Your compassion has truly warmed more than just bodies—it has touched hearts,” she added.
The donation serves as a shining example of how local organisations and national initiatives can work together to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
