Heritage Exposure: Celebrating culture and youth talent in Khutsong
The community was entertained with drama, dance, poetry, and visual arts.
Glitters of the Future Production proudly hosted the 2025 Heritage Month Festival in Khutsong, Ext 4, on Sunday, September 28. Themed “Heritage Exposure,” the festival celebrated Merafong’s rich cultural heritage while providing a vibrant platform for local youth artists to showcase their talents in drama, dance, poetry, crafts, and visual arts.
Held at the Khutsong Multi-Purpose Centre, the event brought together the community from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, creating an inspiring space for creativity, self-expression, and cultural appreciation. This initiative forms part of Glitters of the Future’s broader mission to promote youth development through arts and media, especially in underdeveloped communities.
According to founder Edith Phage, the organization was built on the belief that creative expression is a powerful tool for addressing social challenges like drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, gangsterism, and bullying—offering young people a meaningful alternative to negative influences.
The event featured stellar performances from groups and individuals including Glitters of the Future, Bleed To Lead, DJ Pringle, Bigger, Rockster Steven, and Vibration Taylor, all of whom brought energy, passion, and local flavor to the stage.
The festival was strongly supported by the community, with parents and local leaders in attendance, highlighting a shared commitment to nurturing talent and fostering positive change in the Merafong region. Special thanks were extended to the Merafong Department of Arts and Culture, especially Mr. Israel Makokoe and Ms. Lorraibne Sebei, for their support.
Glitters of the Future remains committed to uplifting youth through creative platforms and aims to continue promoting Merafong talent on both local and international stages.
