Soweto businessman kidnapped in Carletonville — Children found alone in car

His young relatives, aged 7 and 12, were left behind in his vehicle.

Two young children were left behind to fend for themselves after a group of kidnappers sped off with their relative. According to a reliable source, this crime occurred on September 30.

A 54-year-old businessman from Soweto was lured to our area by two unknown Sesotho-speaking men at approximately 19:00. The victim is involved in the security and construction industry and also has some taverns. The suspects allegedly offered him help to register his construction business. He drove to Carletonville with two young relatives, aged seven and 12.

The businessman met the men in Carletonville, and they made him drive to the Shell filling station and the 007 shopping complex.

From here, they drove to the site near Carletonville, close to where the new Rotara School is being built.

Once there, the businessman got out of the car with the two men but never returned.

Passing security guards saw his abandoned car with the children inside and took them to Carletonville Police Station.

Police called the victim’s wife. When she tried to call him, he told her that he had been kidnapped and that his kidnappers demanded a ransom. He was released on October 1 after also being assaulted.
