Police arrest suspected robbers following armed robbery in Khutsong Extension 5

The suspects were soon behind bars.

On the evening of October 6, 2025, a 26-year-old man and his girlfriend were walking through an open veld in Khutsong Extension 5 at around 7:40 PM when they were confronted by three unknown men. The victim instructed his girlfriend to run for safety before attempting to escape himself.

However, he was forced to stop when he heard the unmistakable sound of a gun being cocked. Only one of the assailants was armed, pointing a firearm at the victim. The robbers then stole a Samsung A4 phone belonging to the victim’s girlfriend.

During the confrontation, the victim recognized the voice of one of the men as a former friend. This realization led him to identify all three suspects. The victim promptly reported the crime to Carletonville Police Station, and two officers accompanied him to the suspects’ homes. All three men were arrested soon after.

This quick response by local law enforcement highlights the importance of community cooperation in fighting crime and ensuring safety in the area.
