Wedela police conduct farm outreach to raise awareness on sexual assault and child safety

The visit reached 70 community members, who expressed appreciation for both the awareness session and the donations.

Members of the police in Wedela reached out to farms in this area on November 8.

The social crime prevention officer of the Wedela Police, Sergeant Zikhona Sifuba, was joined by the acting branch commander, Sergeant Tefo Sekete, the liquor officer, Sergeant Metsegaetshwane Matabane, the Community Safety officer, Ms Onica Mogomotsi, youth desk members Ms Oyena and Ms Sandisiwe, and Green Door Ambassador Mrs Nozizwe Maphomolo.

Two members of the Helping Hands group, Sergeant Zukiswa Sixholo and Sergeant Ntozakhe Phika, also took part in the outreach.

The group visited a farm in the Klipdrift area to talk to the community about sexual assault, kidnapping, child abduction, and self-respect.

The group arrived at the farm just before 08:30 and also donated some clothes provided by fellow SAPS members and concerned community members.

“The parents appreciated the visit and the talk as well as the clothes that we gave to them,” says Sifuba. She also thanked everyone who made donations.

The group reached 70 community members.
