Welverdiend man survives early morning shooting attack in his home

Suspect arrested after firing multiple shots through door and windows in attempted murder incident.

A man from Welverdiend was attacked in his home this week.

The crime took place on April 6. The man (33) and his girlfriend were asleep in their home, one of the old railway houses next to the main road to Potchefstroom, at 04:30.

They were woken up by someone knocking on their door. When the knocking did not stop, the man stood up and went to investigate. He opened the kitchen door and came face-to-face with a man pointing a firearm at him.

The resident slammed the door shut, but the attacker shot at him through the door. He continued to shoot at the resident through the kitchen windows.

Luckily, the resident managed to escape and opened a case of attempted murder at the police in Carletonville. The suspect was arrested later that day.
