Driver hijacked near Carletonville after armed men force him off R500

The victim was abducted and robbed before being dumped in Evaton after the brazen hijacking near Rooipoort School.

A driver was hijacked just outside Carletonville this week.

The man (40) was driving a white Isuzu bakkie from Carletonville at about 17:30 on May 6.

As he was driving near the Rooipoort School next to the R500 between Carletonville and the N14, he suddenly saw a blue Toyota Yaris behind him. Suddenly, a white Toyota Yaris pulled in next to him.

The passenger pointed a firearm at him and gestured for him to pull off the road.

Once his bakkie stopped, two of the hijackers jumped out and forced him into the back.

They took his cellphone and money and later dropped him off on the side of the road, where he managed to flag down a passing police vehicle.

The police informed him that he was in Evaton and transported him back to Carletonville.
