Carletonville police urge firearm license applicants to collect outstanding cards

South African Police Service officials in Carletonville say dozens of firearm licences remain uncollected, some dating back to 2024.

Residents who have applied for firearm licenses must follow up with the police in Carletonville to see whether theirs have not arrived yet.

According to the designated firearms officer at the police station, Captain Tefo Madibo, there are currently 22 firearm licenses waiting to be picked up. Some of these licenses have been in the office since 2024.

Because of this, Madibo also reminds firearm license applicants to inform the police if they are moving to another town so that the SAPS can get hold of them when their new license arrives.

He added that people who applied toward the end of last year and have not yet received any communication must call the firearms office to see whether their license is not there yet.

Although the national firearms office sometimes sends SMSs to applicants to notify them that their license card has arrived, this does not always happen.

Applicants who want to find out more can call the firearms office at 018 787 9318/9.
