A young man was robbed and viciously assaulted while walking in Carletonville at night.

The man (21) and his friend were walking in Zircon Street at 02:30 on November 23.

Suddenly two unknown men approached them. One pulled out a firearm while the other had a knife.

The thugs pointed the firearm at the men, but one of the two friends managed to run away.

The victim that was left, was assaulted and the criminals robbed him of his cellphone and tekkies.

They then ran away.

The victim was so badly assaulted that he was admitted to Carletonville Hospital when he went there for help. He went to report the case to the police in Carletonville after being discharged.

They are now investigating an armed robbery case.
