House robbers strike in Ext. 9
A family from Carletonville Extension 9 had a narrow escape from house robbers this week.
The Carletonville police say the incident took place in the early hours of Youth Day.
The family, who lives on Van Amstel Street, was asleep in their home when the woman was suddenly woken up at approximately 02:30.
She then heard something breaking and got up to see what was happening.
As she stepped into her lounge, she saw three unknown men in her home.
One of them picked up a piece of broken glass and threatened her with it.
Another thug tried to remove the family’s plasma television and also grabbed the woman’s cell phone.
Luckily, neighbours realised something was wrong at the house and started blowing whistles.
The commotion scared the robbers, and they ran off.
