Body of Bassonia man found in Alberton

A Bassonia man's body was found at Alberton Home Affairs car park.

BASSONIA – A Portuguese resident of Paul Newham Drive, Bassonia was allegedly murdered at his home yesterday. His body was put into a refuse bin and driven in a bakkie to Alberton Home Affairs car park.

According to one of the car park employees, a white Nissan 1400 bakkie was driven into the car park in the afternoon.

“The driver was an African man and the other two passengers were coloured men. They vacated the bakkie and walked off. Not long after the African man who drove the bakkie came back and said he wanted to check the bakkie. He found the body of a man in the refuse bin in the bakkie and phoned the police.  The police arrived not long after,” he said.

On Monday evening at 20:50 a CHRONICLE reporter received information of a body which had been found, although at that time it wasn’t known where. The reporter went to the alleged scene of where the murder took place. It’s alleged the victim was repeatedly stabbed in the neck . Mondeor SAPS was on the scene in Paul Newham Drive, Bassonia.  Mondeor SAPS weren’t able to comment.

It’s been confirmed that a bloodied carpet was found in the garage at the Newham Drive Bassonia residence.

The victims’s wife has been arrested.
