Gauteng Police Commissioner retires

Police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros was appointed in 2010 to his position and has served nearly three years in the province.

Gauteng Police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros retired from his post after being appointed as commissioner a few years ago.

“Petros’ retirement is a big loss for the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the people of South Africa. General Petros is a dedicated police officer who always shows leadership excellence,” said Head of Crime Line, Yusuf Abramjee.

Petros announced his resignation at a function on July 31 but made the news official on August 1. He was appointed in 2010 to his position and has served nearly three years in the province.

The General is credited with having supported initiatives like Crime Line with commitment also ensuring that tip-offs are followed.
