The Glen addresses security concerns

While fear and anger still grips southerners, they are assured that their safety is a major priority.

EASTCLIFF: Shoppers assured of additional mall security following the violent robbery incident that took place on November 18, at Vodacom The Glen.

Management addressed a spate of heavy criticism from residents of the south about the alleged lack lustre security at The Glen Shopping Centre in recent weeks following a spree of robbery incidents affecting the elderly, everyday customers and some of the stores located inside the centre.

The Glen Shopping Centre General Manager, Mr Glen Maboe assures the public that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure that these brazen criminals who robbed the cellular store are brought to book. Although he was careful with the information he could reveal, as he did not want to jeopardise ongoing SAPS investigations, Mr Maboe did confirm that a case had been opened with Moffatview Police Station.

“At the moment we’ve put in ten additional security guards who will focus on security inside the mall and ten patrollers from SAPS in the parking area. We are also making sure that cameras are working leading up to the festive season,” said Mr Maboe.

He also confirmed that the robbery incident at Vodacom was captured on CCTV surveillance cameras and that centre management is giving the incident priority as they maintain constant contact with SAPS and continue to monitor security cameras to make sure that they curb future criminal opportunities.
