Residents complain about Glenvista Primary School

"The heavy rain we experienced a few weeks ago has played a part in the mess, as soil was washed down from the koppie behind the school. The storm water drains are being put in now."

OVER the past few weeks some residents who live close by to Glenvista Primary School have complained about the mess on the school’s pavements and surrounds.

The Comaro CHRONICLE approached the principal, Arnold Oliphant, with regards to complaints and he said, “Yes, I have met with some of the local residents and listened to their grievances. I also had a meeting with Ward 23 councillor, Paul Smit.

“As we speak the pavement is being cleaned by a team sent from Glenanda Primary School. I do understand the residents’ frustrations and I think they’ll see we are making an effort to clean up our pavements on both Stegman Road and Laubscher Street. The heavy rain we experienced a few weeks ago has played a part in the mess, as soil was washed down from the koppie behind the school. The storm water drains are being put in now.

“According to the unhappy residents some of our learners are dropped off on the corner and the drop-off vehicles stop at inappropriate places to do this. I have spoken to the drivers concerned and we are hoping they will adhere to our wishes.

“We know there are a few problems and I’m certain within a few weeks the residents will be happy with the clean-up,” said Oliphant.
