Young soccer star seeks sponsor for Italy trip

The group will travel to Italy to attend specialised training camps and play matches against local sides.

ORMONDE View soccer player Lindokuhle Zimba (17) is seeking sponsorship to travel to Italy after he was chosen as one of the top players at the 2017 Nedbank Grey College Soccer Tournament.

In April 2018, a group of selected soccer players from around South Africa will jet out on a specialised soccer tour to Italy. Lindokhule, a player from King Edward VII School, has been chosen for the squad.

The tour will see the group attending specialised training camps with Italian coaches as well as playing matches against local sides. The highlight of the tour will be a four-day training camp at the Juventus Youth Academy in Turin.

The tour will expose the players to world-class sporting institutions where they will attend private coaching sessions, as well as a workshop on the business side of the sport at Casa Milan, home of top Italian club AC Milan.

Tour operator Travel and Sport is working with the Nedbank Grey College Soccer Tournament organisers to make this opportunity available to the tournament’s top players. The estimated cost of the tour is R36 000 including taxes and travel insurance.

Karlien de Wet, marketing and social responsibility coordinator, appeals to businesses and organisations to offer sponsorship funding to help Lindokuhle strive for sporting excellence through international exposure.
