“A security guard at the mall, who noticed smoke coming from the roof of the Mash Braai House just after 5pm, quickly notified emergency services who arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. The fire protection equipment within the mall and the quick actions of the fire department ensured that damages were contained to the Mash Braai House and the adjacent SA Home Loans office.
“All employees and customers were evacuated and no injuries were reported. At this point, investigations into the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still underway.
“Both Mash Braai House and SA Home Loans cannot trade at present. It is not yet certain when repairs to the building will commence and when these businesses will re-open.”
