Alberton loses a real estate queen
A queen of Alberton real estate passed away on September 28.
Carol van Dyk was well known for her exploits in the real estate world and being a pioneer for women in the industry in Alberton.
Carol will be remembered for her feisty nature and never taking no for an answer.
According to her family, she was a formidable woman until the last. Her dedication to her craft saw her crowned as the Alberton women of the year in 1975.
In her work, Carol made sure that everything was planned to the finest detail and that nothing could go wrong. Carol started her real estate agency at a time when a woman in charge was still strange and the agency went from strength to strength.
For her employees, Carol will be remembered for her tireless work in empowering women.
According to them, she was always available and while she was a strict boss this was always to ensure that they learn and give their best. For her, women needed to be independent and able to succeed on their own merits.
Her family will miss their grandmother who raised two sons to stand on their own two feet. She will be remembered for what she meant to them and the example she set.
