Anarzade Omar, a resident from Crown Gardens in the South of Johannesburg, has been selected for the top 30 for the 2022 edition of Miss SA.
The 23-year-old has a BA in Strategic Communication in Marketing from the University of Johannesburg and currently works as a social media manager at a digital marketing agency.
Apart from her full-time job Omar is also a social media content creator and a businesswoman running a small business selling sushi online.
Omar said, “Most importantly, I entered because I know how strong my voice and message is and that it can impact and inspire our youth, country and the rest of the world. I want to champion digital literacy and the digital divide in our youth and I know this title will allow me to do that and much more.”
Omar is a daughter of Mozambican parents who relocated to South Africa before she was born.
“My father is a retired mechanical engineer and my mom an accountant and, I think, the world’s best chef. I have an older sister, Xerazade, an accountant and an older brother who works in IT. My brother and I are a year apart, so we feel like twins,” said Omar.
Omar does her part in her community by volunteering, donating and participating in women empowerment workshops when she can.
Small acts of kindness are very important for Omar to add to the bigger picture in the country.
“Living in Johannesburg has always been an adrenaline rush. There is a reason why we call it Jo-hustle-burg. Everyone is always chasing their hustle and this keeps me motivated. I love how it has made my goal-driven and ambitious to conquer the world,” said Omar.
Omar loves how resilient the nation is despite the obstacles that South Africans are facing daily.
Omar further said, “We have proven time and time again that we will unite as a nation to overcome these challenges. Moreover, we are the home of biltong and milk tart and I will forever love South Africa for giving us that.”
