A grey Renault Kwid was recovered in Alberton by local SAPS after being reported to be hijacked.
According to the spokesperson of Alberton SAPS, Captain Manare Ramotshela, the vehicle was spotted in Alberton in the morning by their observant Alberton SAPS officers, on May 9.
When they conducted their investigations, the vehicle appeared to be hijacked and the original owners were kidnapped.
Ramotshela said that the kidnapped victims told the Alberton SAPS officers that they were escorting a truck with goods when they were challenged by fake police officers dressed in full uniforms.
“In a statement made by the two victims to SAPS, guns were pointed at them and they were taken to the back of a marked police van. The suspects drove away with the victims and the victims were later transferred to a private car,” said Ramotshela.
Following this, the victims were abandoned, unharmed, near Ivory Park SAPS.
The vehicle will be taken back to its rightful owners.
The station commander of Alberton SAPS Colonel Olven Letloenyane praised the officers’ prompt action.
