Young karateka off to Scotland
Revival City College’s Grade Six learner, Alexcia Andrade, will be competing at the World Karate Championships from July 13 to 16.
South Crest’s Alexcia Andrade will represent South Africa at the World Karate Championships in Scotland.
Alexcia is an aspiring 12-year-old who has a strong passion for karate. She started the sport in 2019 under the watchful eye of her senseis Laurent Gaston Bellegarde and Nicholas Gaston Bellegarde as part of the Cobras Karate Club.
She has worked hard to achieve her goals and is currently the SA champ for her division. She won double gold at the SAs held last year.
In November 2022, she was chosen to represent South Africa as part of the development team for Dundee, Scotland.
Her parents are extremely proud of her and her achievements.
Her mother, Kerry, described Alexcia as a focused child who accomplishes anything she puts her mind to.
“We wish her all the best. She is proud to have been chosen and cannot wait to hold the South African flag as she embarks on this journey as the world of karateka participants come together. Her advice to all her peers is to never give up. Her motto is, ‘Don’t chase your dreams, catch them’,” she said.
