Springboks’ win uplifts spirits at THT in Alrode

The Transvaal Heavy Transport (THT) celebrated the recent Bokke win as they are strongly attached to the national rugby team.

The Transvaal Heavy Transport (THT) company was over the moon to watch the national rugby team, the Springboks, win the 10th edition of the Rugby World Cup against New Zealand.

The excitement for the company stems from the colours they chose 56 years ago as their company colours – green and gold.

According to the company’s executive director, Jeanne Swanepoel-Edwards, the late THT founder, Gerrit Swanepoel’s passion for the Springboks was why he chose green and gold as the company colours.

“Perhaps he had a premonition that the Springboks would win South Africa’s first Rugby World Cup in 1995, right here in Johannesburg. The Springboks united a nation from different backgrounds and cultures under the green and gold colours all those years ago. Now, 28 years later, the Springboks still stand for hope and unity in our rainbow nation,” the executive director said.

Before the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the THT crew showed their support if the Boks advanced to the finals. They made a flag and drove around the town, spreading the pride they have because of the national squad.

“After the win against France, it convinced us the Boks had a place in the finals and that we would win the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Perhaps grandad’s foresight still lingers on?” Jeanne said.

“Our team at THT is like the Springboks. We never give up and keep fighting. We are champions, winners and proud supporters of our Boks. By the grace of God, THT keeps winning,” Jeanne concluded.
