Joburg City library set for partial reopening in 2025
Johannesburg City Library to reopen partially in the first quarter of 2025 after a major revamp.

The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) and the City of Johannesburg have been actively engaging with residents on the ongoing renovations to reopen the Johannesburg City Library (JCL).
Community consultations have been instrumental in addressing concerns and ensuring transparency about the project’s progress.
As confirmed during these engagements, the library is on track to reopen partially in the first quarter of 2025, following the commencement of works in September 2024.
This milestone marks a significant step towards restoring the JCL to its former glory, providing a valuable resource for the community once again.
